Dream Maker

I have come to realize these early morning writing sessions have been in part centered around the joy of storytelling. The other and perhaps important piece is that everyday I wake I think about my dreams, and identify the steps I am taking as I walk and work towards each part of this body of work. It is so nourishing to make dream building the first thing I do everyday.

I find myself in Kansas City at a conference discussing why artists matter and why entrepreneurship is the key to unlocking the magical power that can transform the journey. Despite the ups and downs it really is a remarkable path that I am thankful to call my own. My mother was so kind to put together the dress forms for me back at the studio.

I have found the painting with lace dresses and have ordered my wrist bracelet pin cushion and necklace scissors. I have an exhibition to prepare for on March 22. I doubt I will finish all 6-dresses in that time, but I will do my best. Even if I have two dresses completed that will be wonderful. What goal will you set to reach towards your dreams? Fill your heart with a cup full of hope.

This is a photo my mother took many years ago in her garden. My dream is to have a fashion farm where she will have her garden and I can sit and listen to the pond and the lovely butterflies dancing around. I really love this vintage navy silk dress. I am holding a little rose.

I think of my painting with lace dresses as a garden of lace. When I return I am going to work on the dress on the far right the Gilded Haze.

I purchased these forms so that I could easily transport them for exhibitions and shows. This is my studio in Bolton Hill in Mount Vernon. I had planned to close these space, but will keep it until August as I work on the Elsa Fitzgerald collection.
