Shifting Speeds

I have not been getting up as early as I have at the start of the year. I have been able to keep the blog going, but I feel the momentum waning. Spring feels as if it is on the horizon. The irony is that when you start to feel the calls of entering a moment of drop-off that is when you have to hit the gas. Much like driving stick you have get to hit the clutch and shift up.

The Indonesian cultural event coming up in March looks like a great match for my next steps. I suggested the idea of doing an exhibition with a Kebaya corner where I could simulate an Indonesian kebaya maker area. This would include my original kebaya and some of the painting with lace dress iterations. I could also display and talk about the Indonesian textiles that I love.

As I phase out elements of my previous work shedding those elements of my life have not been easy, but they have been completely necessary. Making space for new opportunities is key, but protecting that freedom is essential. I must be patient that I am clearing the fields and nourishing the land so my garden of life can be open to grow. I hope you are able to see yourself through and be steadfast as you shift into your most brilliant self.

It is said, to cultivate your own garden. On the farm I surround myself with plants despite sitting for many hours on zoom calls.

I am excited for the upcoming exhibition.

This is a photo from my studio in Bali with lovely cards I would send from Indonesia to different parts of the world. It is sitting up against my treadle sewing machine.
