Shake Out

I've broken every promise I made to my fashion dream. I stopped writing, I stopped sewing, and I let life fill with all the things that clutter the soul. Here I am at my editing deadline and I have not written the book. I gaze out toward the pond as I type away from the new writing corner I have set-up on the farm. I should have done this months ago.

I've spent hours pacing, knowing my editor is waiting, and I haven't even created the framework for the Baltimore Fashion Dream book rewrite. —I never finished the “painting with lace” dresses I planned for the fall exhibition. So now what? Do I just give up and sit with my disappointment? No. Not at all. Never! This seems to be a pattern in my process.

That’s the whole point of Baltimore Fashion Dream, it is a story about the persistence that is required when showing up for yourself. It’s about choosing action over regret—by deciding to live rather than ask "what if". So, yes, the book launch may come later than planned, but what matters most is this: to begin today for there is still time to fully embrace your dreams.

I am leaving for a 10-day silent meditation retreat on Friday, so I have today and Thursday to focus on writing and then will need to keep writing the last week of August before starting my Doctoral fashion program.

This sits at the top of my vision boards for my working life. It is a reminder that I love to write and want to create a fashion farm environment for myself that I share via film content for this wonderful global fashion community. I want followers to fall even more in love with fashion and to find ways in which they can nourish their creative spirit. All while I am exploring various fashion expressions through filmmaking, designing and more.

I have been in the garden planting flowers this summer and so many lovely butterflies are regular visitors. My mother took this photo this past weekend.

We arrived one day too late to the county fair so despite missing the event we did get to see this cute vintage convertible. I would love a vintage car where I can drive around the country roads with the top down with Elsa Fitzgerald fashion.
